[ Sweater Prints ]

Two textile printing projects developed from digital to physical, working directly with a printing service that allowed me to choose and understand the different mediums, colors, and the best way to save the projects digitally to get the best results, in the end, giving me extra insight and perspective into the whole process.

(1) Drive - Ryan Gosling sweater

The material used for printing was vinyl paper due to the intricacy of the design, the digital art is vectorized which also allowed the usage of this method. The way it works and looks is characterized by the clean-cut lines directly done by the machine, allowing the design to be faithful and precise, which in this case was very much needed. Normally it holds on better to the textile and gets less damaged during washes.

Digital art was made with Illustrator/Photoshop with the filter made by me. The way it works is the title "Drive" has a ripple effect on a 2D image, creating lines with various thicknesses to represent the shadow/light in an illusory way.

(2) Raspberry Cola

In this printing, due to the art being an illustration, and not being able to get transformed into a vector, the paper transfer method was used, which meant that the drawing was printed first and then transferred onto the sweater. Due to the art having holes and free-form shapes, the empty parts of the transfer paper were cut off manually, allowing the print to be unpolluted by the extra material that would end up looking like a translucid film on the fabric.

The illustration was made with Photoshop, with the support of a tablet drawing table, a variety of brushes, and techniques that were put together for the final result.

[ Carla Pontes ]

My role at the Internship at Carla Pontes was as "Creative Director", which meant, at the peak of Covid-19, I had the goal of optimizing the visual of the brand, more specifically the website while organizing a new project for Slow Fashion with existing pieces, creating a concept, curating photographic poses, places, and models.

While in complete quarantine of the country, I had been tasked with making the shop curated and linear, I presented a plateau of options that could be done digitally as well as an analysis of the website, being chosen the "NATURE BLOCK", as seen above, consisted of a white panel on a non-studio background, which worked perfectly with the already existing images of the runway, creating a linear structure while scrolling through the shop, white rectangle of the same size on all photos, and all hand edited. The other big difference in the shop was the translation and standardization of all text from Portuguese to English.

[ Fashion Magazine - 1930's 1940's ]

A Fashion History project turned into a magazine.

The objective of the project was solely to compile and write a paper from the eras assigned. To make it more artistic, digestible and creative I decided to make an editorial magazine about the 30s and 40s with the information written.

The magazine was created solely with InDesign, it obliges to all the basic rules of pagination with a contemporary twist. Curated relevant images and facts make the project interesting and educational.

[ Shooting Star ]

Project done with CLO3D with a Retro Futuristic theme, Shooting Star embraces a sophisticated curve-cutting dress with a party aspect that is embedded into it, inspired by the flapper dress.

Shooting Star dress encourages freedom and empowerment, the materials, when overlapped, create an interesting effect with the colors, and the graphic stars and ruffle strips, allude to the name of the dress, a shooting star, it's feeling is dreamy and comfortable. The materials and colors have a vintage feeling with a futuristic graphic.

Flapper dresses and shooting stars are for working and partying people.

[ Fora da Lei ] - [ Outlaw ]

Rebranding Project for Brand Management Design on Marketing Bachelours course.

The project's objective was to choose a Portuguese brand, contact them if possible, and rebrand the visual according to their brand identity and future prospects.

Fora da Lei, a wine brand called OutLaw ( translated ), with their branding focused on fictional characters and stories that are based on old ways of transporting wine, illegally, through borders and countries, sought to bring attention to the history of the crook lifestyle of the wine business, that is usually portraited as sophisticated and luxurious. Outlaw targets a younger audience and seeks a contrarian look to the industry standard.

The logo, characters, label, and overall look were created by me. The "R" flipped on the logo and "O" inside of a fingerprint to represent the contrarian and criminal visual of the identity. Colors are chosen based on screen pictures like the Godfather and Film Noirs that strongly portray the idea of the brand.

[ Jane Doe - Rugs ]

The final project for Brand and Merchandising Management, Fashion Business superior course.

A fun young brand that is focused on a method of textile manipulation, hand-tufted rugs, a growing interest in the industry, with an interactive technological twist to it.

CD Rugs of musical albums that could actually be played, by scanning a QR code in the piece, would redirect to a website and have the possibility of playing on different streaming websites. The possibility of having a unique personal interior piece that is a scan away from playing your favorite music, or, in other products, a scan away from having, a virtual pet, a psychological helper, or even an AR art piece.

Jane Doe's idea was to mix IRL with URL and be visually simple with the possibility of the smile becoming something else in future campaigns.

[ Augmented Reality Filters ]

AR users experience a real-world environment with generated perceptual information overlaid on top of it; most recent examples of this can be seen all over social media and even turned into a usable feature, called "filters".

When I learned about this new technology I sought to understand it and its engineering, turns out that the previous knowledge I had, allowed me to quickly learn how to create AR filters.

The first one was a personal project I made to understand the whole process, from creating on Spark AR studios to posting on social media (now private).

The second one was implemented on a project for a discipline on Marketing Bachelor course, to be a Valentine Day Marketing campaign, for this already existing chocolate brand "Arcádia".

Used the trendy randomizer answer feature, that would give the clients a specific discount for the week.

[ Fashion Flash ]

Proposed Logos for the Final Project of Social Media Management and Blog.

Fashion Flash, a still ongoing project, is still being run by students of the last year of the course, a project started by my class of 2020, with the visual identity created by me, chosen by the teacher and class vote. The project keeps going as last year grade method.

I had the role to manage the project, creating several identity rules, social media directory, color, time, and theme coordination, plus the creation of a google drive with all the teams involved that allowed the project to run smoothly and with open communication. Excel sheets and all the original .png files were provided so the teams could use the visuals freely as well.

The project worked as a simulated workplace with 20+ students.

The experiment worked well,  and it kept going over the years with the visual identity I created.

Fashion Flash represents the Fashion Business Management Class.

Studio Photography and Equipment

[ Time Out Porto ]

Internship at Time Out as Photographer.

My role was on-the-ground photographer, I mainly did Photojournalism and Food Photography, as it's TimeOut's specialty. I worked alone most of the time but would also go along with Senior Photographers and Journalists to capture photos on set and help with the lighting equipment.

I was assigned articles and places I should photograph in specific, like cafes and restaurants along with their main food pieces; as well as arbitrary ideas, like "Photograph the essence of Winter on Porto", which would be completely up to me to creatively capture the imagery.
The whole process was done by me, capturing the images, editing them, and sending them to get feedback.
My photos were published along in magazines and website posts, and are still being used from time to time, as it's been on their database since 2019.

[ Paisagens Plastificadas ] [ Plastified Landscapes ]

Plastified landscapes aims to demonstrate the excessive use and production of plastic which is one of the major causes of the future uninhabitability of the planet.

The plastic landscapes were designed from an experiment that consisted of collecting plastic from different homes and structures, emphasizing the idea of excess and demonstrating a factual reality of the problem.
The use of nature as an expression of art was due to its indisputable characteristics of being 100% natural, which is increasingly becoming degraded considering that overproduction and pollution are making it plastified and artificial.

[ CI;CLO BIENAL 2019 - Paisagens Plastificadas ] [ Plastified Landscapes ]

(Des)Envolvimento [Develop-/Involve-(ment)] is a result of Ci.CLO’s partnership with the Audiovisual Communication Course of Soares dos Reis Art School (CCAudiovisual | EASR). Four final-year students from the Photography Specialisation course were challenged to work on the Adaptation and Transition theme, exploring space and time, and giving free rein to their creation, their thoughts, and their concerns.
